India to Follow ICC Rules on Jerseys Despite Playing Champions Trophy Matches in Dubai

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19, with India playing its matches in Dubai after raising security concerns about traveling to Pakistan, the official host nation.

Controversy arose over whether the Indian cricket team would display the host country's name, "Pakistan," on its jerseys, as per ICC protocol. This sparked speculation after media reports suggested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opposed the move.

However, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia clarified that India would fully adhere to ICC regulations, including uniform guidelines, and the team would sport the official tournament logo featuring Pakistan as the host.

“Whatever the other teams do regarding the logo and dress code, we will follow in true letter and spirit,” Saikia confirmed.

The decision comes amidst tense relations between BCCI and PCB, stemming from India's refusal to play in Pakistan. The compromise allows India to play its games in Dubai, though the BCCI might face financial penalties during future ICC-hosted events in India.

As per ICC norms, all teams must feature the official host nation on their kits, irrespective of match locations. Failure to comply could result in strict action.
