Two Missing South Kashmir Girls Rescued After Three Months, Had Contact with Strangers Online

Srinagar, Feb 3, CNS: In a significant breakthrough, police have traced two South Kashmir girls who had been missing for three months. They were found in Srinagar’s Nowgam area.

The girls, one of whom is a minor, hail from Kellar in Shopian and Babhara in Pulwama. While officials have not disclosed further details, sources suggest they had come into contact with some non-locals through social media before disappearing.

Their families had searched extensively in Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri before police, with the help of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), successfully located them. Reports indicate that the girls had traveled as far as Surat, Gujarat, before returning to the Valley.

Expressing gratitude to the police, the parents urged greater awareness of children's online interactions.

“We are deeply thankful to the Kellar and Pulwama police for their relentless efforts. We urge all parents to monitor their children’s social media activities and interactions with strangers,” said the father of one of the girls.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of cyber awareness and parental supervision to prevent similar incidents. Further investigations are ongoing. (CNS)
