J&K Police Sub-Inspector Exam Syllabus

Syllabus for Written Examination for the Post of Sub-Inspector in J&K Police

The written examination for the post of Sub-Inspector in J&K Police will consist of 100 objective type, multiple choice questions. Each question carries 2 marks, and 0.5 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

This section assesses the candidate’s ability in:

  • Analogies, Similarities and Differences
  • Space Visualization, Spatial Orientation
  • Problem-solving, Analysis and Judgment
  • Decision Making, Visual Memory
  • Arithmetical Reasoning, Coding and Decoding

B. General Awareness (20 Questions, 40 Marks)

Tests knowledge of current events and general awareness regarding:

  • History, Culture, Geography, Economics (focus on J&K)
  • Sports, Science, Current Affairs

C. Quantitative Aptitude (15 Questions, 30 Marks)

Tests arithmetic and numerical ability in topics like:

  • Ratio & Proportion, Percentage, Profit and Loss
  • Time & Distance, Averages, Partnership
  • Mixture and Alligation, Simple Interest
  • Discount, Time & Work, Square Roots

D. English Comprehension (15 Questions, 30 Marks)

Focuses on:

  • Grammar, Synonyms, Antonyms
  • Spot the Error, Fill in the Blanks
  • Active/Passive Voice, Narration
  • Comprehension and Cloze Passage

E. Mathematical Abilities (15 Questions, 30 Marks)

Includes:

  • Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration
  • Statistics and Probability
  • Trigonometry (basic problems)

F. Computer Proficiency (15 Questions, 30 Marks)

Tests basic computer knowledge such as:

  • Computer Organization, CPU, Memory
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Internet, E-mail, Networking

Note: Parts A, B, and D will be of graduation level, while Parts C, E, and F will be at the 10th standard level.
