Kulgam, August 12 — The extensive anti-militancy operation in Akhal forest, south Kashmir, concluded on Tuesday after nearly two weeks of intense search. Security forces ended the mission when no further militant activity was detected despite combing the dense alpine terrain.
The operation began on August 1 following intelligence reports about the presence of two to three armed militants. The initial encounter claimed the lives of two Army soldiers, Pritpal Singh and Harminder Singh, and injured at least ten others. One local militant was killed in the early exchange of fire, while the remaining are believed to have escaped the security cordon.
