Samba (J&K), August 21, 2025 – A tragic road accident occurred near Jatwal village on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, claiming one life and leaving 40 others injured. The incident took place when a passenger bus traveling from Kathua to Katra lost control after a tyre burst and fell nearly 30 feet off a bridge.
The bus was carrying pilgrims from Amroha, Uttar Pradesh, heading to the sacred shrine of Vaishno Devi. A survivor shared the harrowing experience, saying:
"We were coming from Amroha on a pilgrimage to Vaishno Devi when the accident happened. Everyone got injured, and one of our companions lost his life."
Rescue Operations and Medical Assistance
Local authorities, police, and emergency teams rushed to the scene, initiating rescue operations immediately. Injured passengers were shifted to nearby hospitals for urgent medical treatment.
Officials said the accident occurred due to a sudden tyre burst, which led the driver to lose control over the vehicle.
Highway Traffic Disrupted
The accident caused a temporary disruption on the busy Jammu-Pathankot National Highway, with traffic being diverted until the wreckage was cleared.
Investigation Underway
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the mishap and are verifying whether the vehicle had undergone necessary safety checks before the journey.
