ICC Suspends USA Cricket Over Governance Failures, National Teams Allowed to Compete

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended USA Cricket’s membership after repeated governance failures and non-compliance with its obligations. The ICC Board took the decision following a year of extensive monitoring, citing USA Cricket’s inability to establish a functional governance structure, failure to secure National Governing Body (NGB) status with the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee, and actions that damaged the sport’s reputation.

Despite the suspension, USA’s men’s and women’s national teams will continue to compete in ICC events, including preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. To ensure continuity, the ICC will oversee the administration of the teams until reforms are made.

A Normalization Committee will monitor USA Cricket’s progress, and the suspension will be lifted once demonstrable governance changes and operational improvements are achieved.
