Turkey’s President Erdogan Urges Dialogue on Kashmir at UN General Assembly

United Nations – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has once again raised the Kashmir issue at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), urging both India and Pakistan to hold dialogue for a peaceful resolution.
Speaking before world leaders, Erdogan said the Kashmir conflict should be resolved “within the framework of UN Security Council resolutions and in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.”

Erdogan Highlights Kashmir, Calls for Peace

Erdogan expressed hope that the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan would help maintain peace in the region. He noted that dialogue is the “only way” to ensure stability in South Asia.

He stated, “We are pleased with the ceasefire achieved following last year’s tensions, but lasting peace requires meaningful dialogue on Kashmir.”

Strong Remarks on Gaza Crisis

Apart from Kashmir, President Erdogan also strongly criticized Israel’s actions in Gaza. He described them as “occupation, deportation, exile, genocide, and destruction of life,” calling for urgent international action.

India’s Likely Reaction

India has consistently rejected international comments on Kashmir, calling it an internal matter. In the past, New Delhi has criticized Turkey for interfering in its sovereignty and internal affairs.

Analysts believe India may once again issue a sharp response to Erdogan’s latest statement.

Turkey’s Consistent Stance

This is not the first time Erdogan has raised Kashmir at the UNGA. Turkey has frequently voiced support for the Kashmiri people, aligning with Pakistan’s diplomatic position.
