The International Cricket Council (ICC) has issued a strong warning to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after multiple violations during the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The controversy began with Pakistan’s objections against match referee Andy Pycroft in the aftermath of the India–Pakistan handshake row.
According to ICC officials, PCB violated protocols by allowing its media manager to record a private meeting inside the restricted Players and Match Officials Area (PMOA). The board also delayed its next match against the UAE by nearly an hour in protest and issued a press release claiming Pycroft had apologised, a statement later disputed by ICC sources. They clarified that the referee had only expressed regret over a miscommunication, not a formal apology.
While speculation of a possible ban arose, ICC insiders confirmed that Pakistan will not be banned. Instead, disciplinary actions such as fines, reprimands, or suspension of officials involved are being considered.
Adding fuel to the controversy, Pakistan skipped the pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 clash, a move that has drawn further criticism. Press conferences before marquee fixtures are part of ICC’s standard protocols, and Pakistan’s absence has raised fresh concerns about its conduct in the tournament.
With the ICC already monitoring the situation, all eyes are now on the governing body’s decision regarding sanctions against PCB as cricket fans gear up for the blockbuster India–Pakistan showdown.
