Jammu, Jan 7 – In a major crackdown, Jammu police raided nearly two dozen spa centres in Channi and Trikuta Nagar areas on Tuesday, detaining 24 people amid allegations of illegal and immoral activities, officials reported.
The extensive operation, which lasted over four hours, targeted 20 spa centres following a surge in complaints from the public. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Sharma confirmed that the raids were conducted under the directive of the district magistrate and senior police officials to curb suspected unlawful activities in the area.
“This was a coordinated effort between the police and civil administration. Twenty teams, accompanied by magistrates, carried out inspections to ensure compliance and investigate the claims,” a police spokesperson said.
Authorities seized documents, registers, and several Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) for further analysis. FIRs have been registered, and legal action is underway.
The police also flagged non-compliance with tenant verification orders previously issued by the district magistrate. The crackdown follows an incident last August when a Bihar native working at a spa in Channi Himmat accused her employer of rape and coercion into immoral activities.
Police assured the public that efforts to root out illegal operations would continue to restore trust and transparency in the wellness industry.
