Pakistan has lodged a formal complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) following Fakhar Zaman’s disputed dismissal in the Asia Cup Super Four clash against India in Dubai. The left-hander was given out caught behind by Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson after third umpire Ruchira Palliyaguruge upheld the appeal, despite replays suggesting the ball may have touched the ground before being taken.
On-field umpire Gazi Sohel had referred the decision upstairs, where TV umpire Palliyaguruge ruled in favour of India. Pakistan’s team manager Naveed Cheema confirmed that a complaint was filed via email, although match referee Andy Pycroft informed him the matter lay outside his jurisdiction.
Captain Salman Ali Agha expressed dissatisfaction, saying the ball appeared to bounce before reaching Samson. The incident has sparked debate on the accuracy of third-umpire decisions and Pakistan has urged ICC to review the process to ensure fairness in crucial matches.
