Asia Cup 2025: Sri Lanka Beat Afghanistan by 6 Wickets, Seal Super 4 Spot

Dubai, September 18 (Asia Cup 2025 Latest News):
Sri Lanka registered a clinical 6-wicket win over Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2025 Group B clash, securing their place in the Super 4 stage alongside Bangladesh. The defeat knocked Afghanistan out of the tournament despite a fighting knock from veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.

Batting first, Afghanistan posted 169/8 in 20 overs, thanks to Nabi’s explosive 60 off just 22 balls. His late assault kept Afghanistan in the contest after early stumbles. However, Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Wanindu Hasaranga and Nuwan Thushara, kept things in control.

In reply, Sri Lanka chased down the target comfortably, finishing at 171/4 in 18.4 overs. Kusal Mendis starred with a brilliant 74 off 52 balls, guiding the team with composure. Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka provided valuable support as Sri Lanka crossed the line with ease.

With this victory, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualify from Group B, while Afghanistan bow out of the Asia Cup 2025. The Super 4 stage now promises high-voltage clashes with India and Pakistan already waiting from Group A.
