New Delhi, September 18: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has once again made headlines after accusing the Election Commission of India of allowing large-scale voter deletions. He alleged that the deletions are part of a centrally coordinated plan of “vote chori” in areas where the Congress party is strong.
Rahul Gandhi’s Big Charge
Speaking at a press conference, Rahul Gandhi claimed that fake logins, outside mobile numbers, and manipulated software were used to remove genuine voters from electoral rolls. He highlighted the case of Aland in Karnataka, where he said over 6,000 names were targeted for deletion.
The Congress leader described his upcoming evidence as a “hydrogen bomb,” claiming it would be bigger than any earlier revelation. Rahul Gandhi said the exposé would leave Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP “unable to show their face” to the public.
Election Commission Responds
The Election Commission immediately dismissed the charges as “baseless.” Officials clarified that no voter deletion can be done online, and due process — including notice and hearing — is always followed. They added that earlier attempts in Aland in 2023 had failed and an FIR was filed in that case.
Letter to PM Modi on Punjab Floods
Apart from election issues, Rahul Gandhi also wrote to Prime Minister Modi demanding a relief package of ₹20,000 crore for Punjab floods. Calling the Centre’s response “grave injustice,” he said farmers and residents in the state urgently need financial assistance.
Focus on Gujarat Tour
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi is preparing for a tour of Gujarat districts, where he will meet newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents. The outreach program is being seen as part of the Congress’ strategy to strengthen its grassroots organization ahead of key elections.
