Rajnath Singh Warns Pakistan Over Sir Creek Build-Up: ‘Route to Karachi Passes Through the Creek’
NEW DELHI — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday issued a stern warning to Pakistan amid reports of increased military activity near the Sir Creek region, cautioning that any misadventure would be met with a decisive response.
Speaking at a public event, Singh accused Pakistan of stirring up the long-standing border dispute at Sir Creek by expanding military infrastructure in the area. Drawing a sharp parallel with the 1965 war, he said, “In 1965, our forces reached Lahore, and in 2025, one route to Karachi passes through the creek.”
The minister also referred to Operation Sindoor, stressing that Pakistan’s attempts to penetrate Indian defenses “from Leh to Sir Creek” had been exposed, resulting in heavy losses to its air defence.
Reiterating India’s resolve, Singh said any provocation from across the border would invite a response “so robust that it will change both history and geography.”
The Sir Creek, a marshy strip in the Rann of Kutch, has remained a contentious boundary issue between India and Pakistan for decades, with both nations claiming territorial and maritime rights in the region.
